We're not here to cause no trouble...

So maybe you heard this minor news item about the Chicago Bears, a local team that plays American football. Something about them going to Miami. For the Super Bowl, which is apparently some kind of Big Deal. In fact, the last time the Bears participated in aforementioned Big Deal, members of that team recorded an off-rhythm, lyrically simple old-school rap number that was nonetheless so endearing that it remained lodged, forever, in the collective unconscious of most Chicagoans.

You might be wondering what this has to do with us, the Neo-Futurists, who have never played in a Super Bowl and would probably not survive the experience if we did.

In light of the expected frenzy in the city on Super Bowl Sunday--we suspect that everybody will either be watching the game for the game itself, watching the game for the commercials, or simply holing up in their apartment, not wanting to venture outside in the crazy joyous drunken hoopla that will be sure to follow after the Bears send the Colts back to their stables (or, the mournful drunken hoopla that would follow in the face of defeat)--in light of this, the Neo-Futurists are doing something we've only done twice in the 19-year history of our company...

...we're cancelling a performance of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind.

Ahem. Let's make that a more formal announcement.

THERE WILL BE NO PERFORMANCE OF
TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND

ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2007.

(The other two times, in case you're wondering...one involved a complete power outage, and the other involved the confluence of a snowstorm and the violent illness of one of the performing ensemble.)

We understand if there's disappointment. Every other Super Bowl weekend we've still been here, playing to even paltry crowds of non-sports fans, but with the Bears on the field, we're conceding the evening.

Thanks for your understanding, enjoy your beer, snack chips, and clever commercials for said beer and snack chips, and we'll be back on a full schedule the very next week.

And later in the month, come out for our glorious Oscar Night Benefit!
