Bootcamp (for your art)!

Slip on those aerobic wristbands, do some deep stretching, and come workout (your art) with Neo-Futurists Jay Torrence and Kristie Vuocolo!

If you are a theater artist than you know that auditions can be stressful. But don’t sit alone with your nerves on end throwing up into a bucket. Put the puke bucket down and come and get your art on because...

The Neo-Futurists are offering two new 2-hour intensives - Audition Bootcamp and Creative Writing Portfolio Bootcamp - in one night, at The Neo-Futurarium!

Designed to equip students with practical tools, tips and applications on the topics of auditioning and preparing a creative writing portfolio respectively, these intensives will give students tools and insight useful for ANY audition opportunity you find yourself taking on.
Not sure how to compile a creative writing portfolio that presents your best work and is edited to leave an impact? This two hour workshop provides practical instruction and tips on what a writing portfolio should and should not contain, and how to organize it so that it stands out from the pile.
How to fill your portfolio with the right work samples? How much is too much? Does your voice jump off the page? We will explore the do’s and don’ts of creating a powerful writing portfolio and students will have the opportunity to receive feedback on two of their own writing samples. Students are required to submit these writing samples prior to the day of the workshop.
Come spend two hours with fellow artists, and Neo-Futurist teachers who can equip you with the tools needed to overcome audition anxieties so you can present your best work.
This Audition Bootcamp is designed to equip you with the tools necessary to walk into any audition room prepared and focused. Jay and Kristie will help demystify the audition process and set you up with tips on how to write (or choose) an audition piece that is right for you. We will go over a checklist of do’s and don’ts for how to prepare for an audition and give you the opportunity to perform an audition monologue of your choice in front of the class for practice and instructor feedback.
Face and overcome your audition anxieties. Practice an audition piece in front of a captive audience of peers and educators. And gain more insight into knowing what casting directors are looking for in the brief two minutes you are given to wow them.

We welcome you to take and use these classes to prepare for our upcoming auditions. But please note that these workshops are completely optional. You are not required to take a workshop in order to audition for the Neos and these workshops will not secure any special treatment in our upcoming casting decisions.

If you have questions about our audition process, but can't make it to one of our intensives, please join us for a post TML talk back this Sunday July 29th. The performing cast will talk about what it's like to audition for us, and how to make the best impression possible.

*AND... to get 10% off when you register for both intensives, email jmondres [@] neofuturists.org
